The Flemington Kensington Community Legal Centre provides services for newly arrived migrants with a focus on policing, discrimination and human rights. Its specific fundraising objective at our TFN event is to address problems that arise from police racial profiling. It intends hosting a series of “Know your rights/Tell your story” workshops to empower young Indigenous people and migrants to share their experience, connect with others and ultimately build the case for policy reforms in Victoria.

Project #2: Alliance For Gambling Reform

The Alliance For Gambling Reform is addressing gambling addiction and the impact of poker machines by facilitating community education and outreach across Australia. The Alliance hopes to raise funds for a digital media campaign and community materials, providing vital support and information to the areas of Australia that need it the most.

Project #3: Human Rights Law Centre

Human Rights Law Centre protects and promotes human rights in Australia via legal action, advocacy, research and capacity building. The centre’s Indigenous Rights Unit is seeking funding to help remote Western Australian Aboriginal communities facing forced closure to understand their rights and to engage with the WA Government on decisions that will affect their future.
