Melbourne is a culturally diverse and fascinating city known for twisting alleyways full of hidden cafés, sprawling riverside parklands, uncertain weather, a plethora of shopping options, and a range of major sporting events. Below is a summary of key Melbourne attractions, including several that are only a short walk from the hotel.

Near us:

We are located a short walk from the Errol Street café precinct, a popular weekend brunch spot and a great source of general amenities for guests of the hotel (Errol Street also has a supermarket, banks, a chemist and a convenience store). Trams runs along Errol Street and turn into Victoria Street going to the Queen Victoria Market and then the city centre.

Melbourne’s iconic Queen Victoria Market is a great place to shop for clothes, souvenirs and produce, or just to grab a meal. Open five days a week the market often also hosts a range of food trucks (especially on weekends) and during the summer there is a Night Market on Wednesdays featuring food and live music.

If you are attending Melbourne for music or a sporting event, we are walking distance to Etihad Stadium (right near Southern Cross Station) and Festival Hall.

We are also walking distance to the increasingly-popular Docklands area, which features a massive range of restaurants and bars, as well as shopping (including Harbourtown and Costco) and the Icehouse Skate Centre.

The nearby #55 tram along Peel Street also takes you right to the Melbourne Zoo near Royal Park and the State Netball/Hockey Centre.

City Centre/ South Bank

The Miami Hotel is a short tram trip or a 15-20 minute walk into the city centre. The #57 tram from Errol Street also takes you right to Flinders Street Station at Elizabeth Street – walk under the station and over a footbridge and you’re in Southbank.

Southbank Promenade stretches along the south side of the Yarra River from the popular Southgate shopping and dining complex to Crown casino and the Melbourne Exhibition Centre, offering pedestrians a spectacular view of the city. For a different view, the awe-inspiring Eureka Tower is also located at Southbank which displays the breathtaking cityscape from its Level 88 observation deck. Southbank also hosts the Arts Precinct of Melbourne, including the Arts Centre, Hamer Hall, and the National Gallery of Victoria.

The Melbourne City Centre includes a range of attractions – from its range of exemplary cafés and restaurants to bars and pubs there is always somewhere new to dine or catch a live music show. For a truly unique Melbourne experience, don’t forget to check out Melbourne’s iconic laneways – a popular choice is Hosier Lane which is well-known for its street art, while the Degraves Street and Centre Places lanes connect through from Flinders Street to Collins Street and feature a range of cafés and eclectic shopping options. At Collins Street you can find the heritage Block Arcade which leads you through to the Block Place and then Royal Arcade. Royal Arcade ends at the Bourke Street Mall, a shopping area including Myer, David Jones, and the old Melbourne GPO (now an H&M store).

Other Areas:

Easily accessible by tram from the CBD, the Fitzroy and Collingwood area has retained a creative and bohemian feel with its eclectic mix of shops and eateries and its ubiquitous street art and murals. These areas are a great place to grab a coffee or a drink at one of the iconic Brunswick Street bars. They also offer a mixture of art galleries, specialist bookshops and quirky vintage stores, as well as Rose Street Artist’s Market on weekends.

Another popular inner-city area is Brunswick, accessible via the #19 tram from the market or the #1 or #8 from in the city. Hosting a range of cafes and restaurants and well-known as a key destination for vintage and thrift shopping, this area bustles on weekends with savvy Melbournians looking for an excellent coffee and a deal on retro clothes.
